Why Yellowknife in winter will warm your heart – and take your breath away.

Going fast and "flurryous"
If snowmobiling is your speed, our Northwest Territories winter offers new horizons to conquer. Ride from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk, drive the portage trail along the Slave River, or hop aboard for a trip to a trapper's camp or a cozy lodge in the northern woods. Rent a machine and winter gear in town or at a winter lodge and take a guided trek or travel on your own. One of the most spectacular trips combines forest and lake trails with the serene beauty of the East Arm. In late March and April, super-hot snowmobile races are held at community carnivals across the NWT.
