Dogsledding

Goin' to the dogs

We love our dog teams. The dogsled once ruled as the winter transportation of choice. The tradition continues with dogsled racing as a spectator sport in the Northwest Territories. Driving a team of eager huskies is fun and the rules are pretty simple. You can also leave the driving to experienced mushers. Cozy up in a traditional oak toboggan with a world-champion racing team in Yellowknife. Or spend an afternoon visiting with the puppies and touring forest trails at a winter resort. The 150-mile Canadian Championship Dog Derby and other events bring the winter season to a close in early April.
