2.3 to 6.8 kg (5 to 15 lbs)
Northern Pike are powerful, wary fighters, muscular and streamlined, with keen eyesight. Hook one on fly rod or spinning gear and you’ll be in for the fight of your life. They prefer warm, slow moving, weedy areas, where they lie in wait for anything they can swallow. Monster pike of 18.1 kg (40 lbs) and more are considered prize catches.
The long body of the Pike is dark green to brown with yellow to whitish spots. They have very sharp pointed teeth, as many an unwary angler has learned the hard way. This is a lean fish, with firm white flesh, delicious cooked fresh from the lake. Large Pike will strike at medium to large sized spinners and spoons.
